87 brake v6 upgrade problem
i'm trying to do the swap to the larger v6 brakes on the front of my 87. i have the 1 inch master on but am having problems with the rotors and calipers.
i have the s13wb calipers and t100 rotors. they bolt on, but the rotor height does not fit the calipers - looks like the rotors diameter is small. so i bought some new rotors for 4 Runner(1992-1995),T100(1993-1998) and still same problem.
talking to a local mechanic he said maybe swap the spindles, but that runs counter to everything i've read on here.
any ideas what i might be doing wrong? does anyone have the dimensions of the rotors i should be using?
i'm going to try to go to the parts store and match up the rotors.
thanks in advance

I don't know specifically about the t100 rotors or the s13wb ones that you are referring to, but when I upgraded mine to the "v6" calipers, I simply bought calipers for a 1988+ 4Runner with the 3.0 v6. They bolted right on.

mismatched, or poorly produced. the lining on one pad is nearly flush with the edge of the plate, while the other has a clear gap between the edge of the lining and edge of the plate. they should be the same.

I put calipers and rotors off my '92 V6 wreck onto my '87 4 cyl runner. As I recall, the rotors may have been the same diameter, but the '92 V6 rotors were thicker than the '87s' for certain.
I just switched the whole hubs over, bearings and all.

thanks all. i'll swap everything out and then see how the other side looks. i'll post back if all works out (hopefully it's as you note - poor qc so a new set would sort it out)
here is a weird thing. in my search to find out what is happening i found this picture on old thread by corax. he said he put on the s13wb calipers and it looks exactly like mine. he then continues to swap out the rotors to the v6/t100 rotors which are only about 2 millimeters larger (291 vs 289.6mm diameter) but much thicker (same one's i have). his actually looks even more overhang than mine - much more than a millimeter. so not sure how it rectifies but i'm gonna give it a go.
will let you know.

His pads are the same size, inner vs outer, so they I'll have similar grip and heating..
You are correct normally they should be inset slightly so not to rub outside the wear surface.. this (outside rub) will add heat but no additional stopping power.
