Why some people dont trust body shops.
One sunny day my truck was enjoying the day off when suddenly a lady using my drive to turn around hit the gas instead of the brakes. She creamed into the side of the toy caving in the door and front drivers side bed. I took the truck to a repair shop my wife and mother in law had used for 25+ years. After they looked over the truck they said it was safe to rebuild. They started repairing the body by replacing the bed and door skin. I was going to paint the truck. Things at work put a stop to the rebuild and I had to park it in the garage. Sitting in an enclosed garage it started rusting thru the filler and primer. Below is what I found.
Yes its part of a 'Beware of Dog" sign.

Here is a picture of the passenger side after sanding the rust spots.
I'm thinking of getting a bed panel and just replacing the entire side. I will need to figure out how to remove it.

Didn't find the dog but I did find a side bed panel for $259 at the Toyota dealership. Should be here in a week. Really dont need a fiberglass bed in Florida. The closest thing to salt for us is the ocean.

Update.....Wasn't able to get the side panels.
Went ahead and rebuilt the existing ones.
I know know how to wield sheet metal. (sort of)

Found a bench cover on ebay but their versions of charcoal is more blue than anything. Carpet is from Home depot.
I'll redo it later, maybe look for some bucket seats or have the bench rebuilt.

The color isn't factory. I got it from TCP paint
Its called "Warm Gray Metallic 2107" two stage Urethane.
I used the (1) gallon kit (base and clear). 4 coats of base and 4 coats of clear. Still have about 1/4 of each left over.

Gonzadanny888,
I used a cheap area rug from home depot. $20. It came in a 6' x 8' roll. (Thicker than auto carpet at Autozone, but not too thick)
Took the seat, bottom door trim, kick panels and shifter out. Cut to fit starting from the rear with regular scissors
and used spray glue to tack it down with. $5. Took about 4 hours with cleaning.

Please include me on the list of people that have used assorted welder panels in body work .
I do it all the time but no body filler as that soaks water like a sponge I use Fiber Glass.
