87 4runner o2 sensor part #

Hey Yotatech, been doing maintenance on the runner and decided to replace o2 sensor as well. bought a new o2 sensor from rock auto Denso part number 234-1056. It will not fit in the exhaust manifold, acts like its too long. Dealership parts counter is closed on Friday so I'll have to wait till Monday to compare part numbers, but I'd figure I try here. Prolly got the wrong one from rock auto but I assumed it was right cause it was the only denso brand sensor, does plug into harness though. Oh well, hope to learn something new. Bosh in right fits perfectly, denso on left does not. This can't be the right one

There are two: http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...hString=oxygen

Apparently the turbo version takes a different sensor; I don't know which is which. I note that RockAuto has pictures of sensors (e.g., Delphi) that look more like your old one.

Thanks for link. I was trying to think of that website earlier. On ih8mud there is thread and here is what I found. Part numbers 234-4157 front of cat, 234-4520 (air fuel ratio sensor) and 234-4153 rear of cat. The only I have is in the manifold. 234-4157 or 234-4520. Kinda bugs me

Did the "thread" tell you where those (presumably Denso) numbers came from?

You can go to the Denso site directly http://densoautoparts.com/find-my-pa...icle-selection, and the only OE O2 Sensor they have for you is 234-1056. You can search the RockAuto site for those Denso numbers, and they contain cross-references to the Toyota part numbers. Again, 234-1056 is the Denso number that cross references to the Toyota part number for your vehicle.

If you take Denso 234-4157 to RockAuto, that part cross-references to a Toyota 89465-69085 . At the Toyota (dealer) site, that part fits a 1997 4.5liter Land Cruiser.

Is it possible that you have a non-stock exhaust set up (e.g., "headers")?

I'll mess with it another day and see. In the middle of landscaping the yard and it rained last night so I was able to tinker with 4runner. Just curious because the Denso is longer than the Bosch and i rather use the Denso part. Could be just me, but something so simple to change out. You know?

Just come back from the dealership. Gave them the Vin# and the toyota part number for the o2 sensor is 89465-19055/89465-19265. The guy behind the counter said the computer showed both numbers. On http://www.oxygensensor-crossreferen...ta/89465-19055 both part numbers 89465-19055/89465-19265 both show Denso 234-1051. According to Rock Auto, this part number is for an '84 4runner. I am going to see if 234-1051 is the right o2 sensor, looks the same as the one I just got but its worth a shot.

Here is where I get mine http://www.sparkplugs.com/Automotive...-SPC-c143.aspx and never a problem. I get the exact fit. Is there anything in the manifold keeping it from seating all the way down?

I don't why I didn't see this last week. The Bosch sensor is a universal type spliced into factory plug. I either have an 84 model exhaust manifold or rust has built up a lot. Checked the Bosh part number and it should fit an 87 too. I'll figure it out sooner or later. PO must knew something because the trans isn't a w56. G54 or G52
