87 4Runner/22re racing between shifts

I just brought a great running 4 runner from Phoenix to CO Springs. Now that it's here -- It is not running well. I first noticed that the RPM was increasing when I pressed in the clutch between shifts followed by a delay of the rpm coming down if I leave the clutch in. My Check Engine light comes on at operating temp and now, at idle, I can hear my ECU "tink" and then stalls it out. It seems to be fine running at rpm's over 1000 with the exception of the racing problem. I have not yet made any adjustments for altitude and this issue seemed to creep up over night. Any ideas?

Sounds like an altitude problem. If I remember correctly, there is a label under the hood that tells you how to adjust for altitude changes.

I looked under the hood. Just a notice to re-tune when you change altitude.
