'87 22RTE deck height issue

In the process of installing a LCE dual row timing chain kit and pro head on my 87 4runner 22rte, everything else is stock with 6psi of boost. The new timing chain cover/case is .010 higher than the deck height of the block. Both the block and head are true. I talked to tech at LC engineering and he said the head gasket, toyota oem, will make this up and properly seal the head, with a .010 or less difference. Regardless, I remain a little concerned the head gasket will leak. I'd rather not take to a machine shop, having the whole front of the engine back together. Any thoughts? appreciate it, Rob

Sounds like one of you is confused as to what the situation is. They maybe thought you said shorter, or maybe you missed the part where they told you to cut off the head gasket in this area(forward of the block) and use a FIPG material. maybe?

The max spec IIRC is 0.010"(0.020 for the block and 0.080 for the head), so it is borderline of the gasket maxium deviation.

If you are really worried about it the only thing to do is have it milled or take a brick to your skull and hope you forget "the right " thing

Send the cover to the machine shop and have them take off .010". Search for a head gasket thread and read through it. It's been covered on here.
