The '86 is worm food........

Motor, tranny, drivetrain, etc, etc is all still good, but it has finally come to pass. The '86 was rusty when I originally bought her, but after 10yrs of dedicated service the frame gave way from internal rust. The rear pass. shock absorber peeled off the frame coming home a little over a week ago. Some of you all familiar with my 4rnr may have seen the pics of my loading her to the max. Well, she's done....fine....kaplooey. Now I just have to wait and find a chassis to throw all my parts on.

Who's got one around Arkansas?

It sure looks good in those pictures. Sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like one day soon those organs will be come to life in another body.

sucks about the runner man I actually just cut out and ground down some rust on my 90 yesterday. there was a little rust above the muffler and a small spot below the driver's side door that turned into a hole after I ground it down. Rust sucks! at least you still have a solid piece of land though.

although, like the canadian said rust can be fixed...have you seen the rust they deal with up there? Our east coast rust pales in comparison to theirs.

Snow + salt + -45 + 20 year old truck = that.

Obviously I had to do a load of bodywork on it to get it street legal, but I did it.

Thanks for the sympathy and the humor, guys. When the timing is right, another chassis will turn up.

As for saving it, I don't think there's much that can be done. Well, really nothing. There's nothing to weld to and you can't get inside the frame adequately to treat the rust.......which was the problem in the first place. Besides, there's big holes in the body in rear cargo area....a big hole in the driver's floor board (big enough for a soccer ball), and I would imagine pretty much any fastener to be removed/replaced for any attempt at restoration is frozen solid. A few years ago, something could have been done for the body. But, it's one of those things. You keep meaning to get to it and life just kinda gets in the way. So, I'm really not going to mess with it. There's lots to salvage off of her, though. That won't even start until it's warm and dry, again.

Nice job on the resto, turboboost. I think I'd atleast rattle can that primer and bondo. Get funky wit' it, even. Be creative.

No pics right now, pruney. If I have time at some point, I might take a few shots to make you grind your teeth. It's pretty bad.....haha.

Abe.....Freak.....thanks for the laugh. I needed one today. Everything seems to be breaking, lately. The '86, the washing machine, a couple weeks ago it was the wellhouse plumbing, it goes on. I just keep grinning and try to get things fixed as I can. I hope I can get it all squared away before it starts freezing outside. Dang.....
