86 steering column cover rattle

my steering column cover doesn't appear to secure to anything. has anyone else had to deal with this ??

Same with mine, the plastic broke around the bolt holes that secures it to the column.

^^^^ That fixed it lol. One rattle you will never have to deal with.

The plastic stud that the screw goes into has either broken off or someone has over tightened the screw and broke the stud out. If you have the stud laying in the bottom of the cover, super glue will fix or you may need to get another cover.

I've been looking for 2 longer bolts and a couple fender washers to re-secure it to the column but haven't found any long enough yet.

the screws seem to screw the two pieces of the cover together firmly but it just kind of sits on the column.

There's 2 bolts from the bottom that attach it to the column, the rest only join the upper and lower covers together. At least that's what it looks like on my 92.
