86 ecm vs 88 ecm?????

I've had codes in my truck ever since I bought it. I have had codes 21 & 51 consistantly. I just got it back from the shop and there still there and he said that an 86 shouldn'yt have codes that high, and he thought maybe I had an 88 ECM. If this is possible, would my car run, or run poorly because of this???

85-88.5 EFI should be the same, except for variations with the turbo model...

Sorry to say guys but you are both wrong. I should have looked harder first, but all and all 1986 and 1987 are only compatible with each other. I changed it and it worked.
