86 4Runner starts and then dies

So this has been happening for a while with my 4Runner. It only happens after it's sat for about 5 hours. I turn the key and the engine cranks, it catches and then immediately dies. After I do it a few more times it will finally fully start. Also, if i give it gas at the start it'll start first time, every time. I've heard about cold start injectors going bad, so i recently pulled mine out and gave it a thorough cleaning, but I've noticed no difference. Could my CSI just be completely bad or is there another issue that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Andy

Test/clean the AFM. Sounds like the vane isn't opening enough. That would explain it starting when you give it some throttle...more air to push the vane open.

Well, I recently got an '82 Supra AFM, but I don't think that's necessarily the problem, because it did the same thing before I swapped it out for the new one. Any other ideas of what may be going wrong? If this helps at all, it also idles really low at start up. I don't know of the two are related though.

Did you check for voltage at the CSI? Or try taking the CSI out and sticking it in a jar while you crank it, see if it shooting out gas? If it is working okay then maybe a throttle position sensor issue, or a loose vacuum hose?
Does it have any problems while it is running? Like surging, stalling, missing? Error codes?
