86 4runner radiator replacement

Just had to replace my radiator, and the new one i got from O'Reilly's has two little metal nipples on both sides of the radiator at the bottom. From my understanding this is for the automatic transmission cooling. Problem is I have standard trans and the old radiator didn't have the metal nipples.

Is it fine to go with the new radiator and just plug those up somehow, or do I have to special order a radiator thats the same as the old one?

Just to make it extra clear, the new radiator I picked up has two of those little metal nipples, and as you can see the old one doesn't have any.

Feedback as soon as possible is greatly appreciated.

i have the same auto trans nipples on the radiator in my 5-speed runner, i don't think that it affects anything, run it.

Those 2 nipples are for the automatic trans cooling lines. most all new cars have them now. they are not needed for manual. just plug them off and you are good to go. do not really need to plug them off if you do not have the caps at the moment, but it is advised to as not to get junk in them.

no need to plug them off. in an automatic, transmission oil runs through them to get cooled, not coolant. the passage is closed to coolant.

Pretty much all radiators come with the Auto trans cooler why make two styles for the same vehicle .

One and done less Inventory !!

Anything that I had I never bothered to cap off.
