86 4runner 22re headers + exhaust

I'm going to be replacing the oe exhaust system.
NO cat is necessary and i'm looking to increase power and performance.

I've got a question -- is it worth my time to install new headers? AND, how difficult is that gonna be with a basic setup and welding gear...no pipe bender but i've got a 3' body lift so i can work around that problem.

Any input would be great, anything and definitely whole exhaust systems
I definitely am going for a deep loud sound

much mahalo

the pipe bender comment was for the exhaust after the headers...guessing i can bolt on where the cat would have and skip that part

A header and larger exhaust will make a noticable diference. I have a Downey header on my 4Runner and i like it. Also swapping to a larger AFM will help a little also, do a search and you will find information on that.
