86 22re problem

So i washed my truck (and engine bay probable causing my problem) and on my way back home I must have blew some sort of sensor i think. It still runs fine but is hard to drive. I have to shift at very low rpms and cant give it very much gas. I have no check engine light on. if i do give it to much throttle or drive to high of rpms it drives villently like cutting off and on the gas. Any ideas what I need to replace. I drive my 1986 4runner as a daily drive right now so suggestions would be helpfull. thank you

have you checked all your vacuum lines to make sure you didn't knock one off or loose?

I didnt see anything that looked loose or came off but i guess i should check everything agian.

sounds like either water in your distributer cap or water in the tps.

unbolt the dist. cap. dry it out good with a rag, maybe leave it off for a day or so with the hood closed. There are probably better ways to do it, but that's where I'd start. As fro the drying the tps, I'll leave that to vital22re to give you advice. In other words, I'm not sure and would have to look at the part first

It just seems like that if it was the distributer that it wouldnt start and run like normal before it drives. I could be wrong.

Look over the tps, if it can't figure out where the butterfly is then it'll probably won't work so well.

If the tps sensor was out wouldnt the check engine light be on? It might be time to just take it to a shop and have them figure it out.

check, clean and dry the connectors to the igniter / coil assembly and the air-flow meter.

I think it would pop if the thing thing was just bad, maybe not for out of adjustment. Still would hurt to just check it. Or pay a butt load for some guy to tell you its doesn't run.
