Wink 86 22r help no power

i have a 86 4x4 with a 22r. the motor has no power and knock. the truck does start up fine. I'm thinking that replacing the main bearings, rod bearings, and thrust washers will fix the knock and the power. any thoughts?

The knock is probably bearing related but the low power is probably rings or a head problem. How many miles? Compression? It might just be time for a rebuild. Most would agree if you are in as far as bearings doing the full rebuild is probably necessary and just makes more sense.

Funny, the guy I bought my 86 4Runner (22RE) from said it had a lifter problem too...but last I checked we have rocker arms in our heads. My truck idles a tad rough when its cold, but otherwise it runs pretty well. I get a knocking sound every once in awhile at start and it needs to crank over longer than usual, but it happens so rarely that I usually just let it be.

EDIT: I would also agree that if you're replacing all those bearings you might as well just rebuild the whole engine. Toyota head gasket + ENGNBLDR rebuild kit is what seems to be recommended most and is the route I will take when I have enough time to rebuild my 22re.

compression check results: C1:115 C2:130 C3:150 C4:130.
Also noticed , after taking off the valve cover, that a few compression springs had A LOT of play in them.
Full rebuild?
Rebuild Head?
or?
