'82 22R in '88 4Runner (EFI)

Will it work?
Basically this guy sold us a "'89 22R that had been rebuilt intake to pan"
NOPE
Opened it up. Double row timing chain. NOT an '89. Could be an '80 - '82
Not rebuilt either. Newish head. Thats IT. Everything else is factory.
However since I have it we want to get the most out of it, and whereas it hasnt been rebuilt, its not in bad shape. Will it fit in my 4runner?

I couldn't tell you definitely, but as far as mounting I believe so. Have you tried searching yet? I know there are threads that will tell you for sure.

Because I was told it was an '89 when I bought it and now I'm stuck with it so I might as well utilize it
I know it will bolt in, but the MANIFOLDS
Will it actually hook up right?
From what I've heard the engine mounts and everything else is fine except for the manifolds, and the head on the 83+ is a little different so you cant swap them...

i'm not sure if the intake will bolt up.

i've got an '84 22r that was EFI'd into my '92 pickup.

problems i ran into we're the studs in my head we're in different spots for my header, easy fix.

you'll have to weld a nut to your motor mount with the same threads as the knock sensor. then just put your sensors on the block ,swap out all the coolant lines, alternator, intake, ect.

while you've got the thing apart, swap the rock/lifter assembly from the newer motor, the older ones i guess are alot noisier
