7mge in 87 4run with A340F

I am pretty positive my 87 runner has the A340F.
Picking up a complete 7MGE with harness, ecu, bell housing. FOR $500!!

I have been reading up on swaps, but cant find much specific to my build.

My 22re is tired, and even with my deep discount a stock rebuild costs me around $750 bare minimum.
So assuming this 7mge doesn't need internal work I am looking at approx same cost to drop it in with full tune up.

This wont be started tell summer so I have some time, but would like to get solid game plan before then.

So what all am I looking at in mounting the 7m to the A340F ?
Any electrical wiring help/tips would also be appreciated.

Here is the plan so far:
3vze aluminum ebay radiator
electric push fans probably 2 12"s
7mgte thermostat housing (for the 3 ports)
Custom bracket for steering stabilizer
2.5"ish IFS lift + new shocks and other suspension/steering overhaul parts
Full tune up obviously
Relocate battery + coolant res and anything else need be
Jag high output alternator
Big 3 upgrade
Cressida oil pan ? for clearance
Drill new hole for dipstick tube
clearance firewall etc
Try and fit pacesetter header and have exhaust shop fab up the rest
stick with 31" tires and stock gears (4.33?)

That is about as far as I got so far

Wiring is just like any other swap get the EWD`s of the engine harness year and your 4 runner. Do the rewiring as needed.

Being the 7M is 6" longer is where the fun starts.

I was going to do this and Have all the parts but went with the 3.4 instead.

There are a few threads on here but I think they were manual instead of Auto.

If you have a first generation 4runner you have a A340h, not a A340f.

I did it! BUT with a 5-speed though. I may be able to help you with the wiring, I think that was the best part!

O RLY?

*A340F are found in 4wd 4runners and trucks that have the 2.4L 22RE 4cyl motors.
*A340H are found in 4wd 4runners and trucks that have the 3.0L 3VZ-E
V6 motors.
*A340E are found in 2wd 4runners and trucks that have the 3.0L 3VZ-E V6 motors.

Well I was only going off the info I found on here. Regardless, I don't see this happening obviously. Guess I will just put it in the 92 2wd 5 speed instead.

The engine wont bolt up to my auto... I want to keep it auto. It will bolt up in my truck 5 speed.
I am not quitting just changing rigs.
Thanks for your input though.

got the motor, unfortunately my phone died and this is the only pic I have of it.
Have pretty much decided on putting it in the 92 2wd instead, and finding another 7mge for the 4runner. Will continue to update this thread.

On a positive note, the previous owner already redid the power steering hoses to reach to the stock locations. All I really have to do is either hammer the firewall for the egr, or block it off, then redo some fuel lines and its good to go. The wiring is all done and virtually plug and play to the ecu. The belts and timing belt, and other various tune up parts are all "new" also. The 2 plugs for the dash controls, gauges etc still need to be wired in, but are already labeled. Should be a fun and simple swap.
