$500 '87 4runner with....a 3.0L?
Wasn't the 3.0L introduced in '88? http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/934019375.html
The vehicle is like 7 hours away from me, but I'll be going through that town on my way to TG on Wednesday, and back again on Friday.
Either the owner doesn't know a 3vze from a 22re; the PO put in a 3.0L; or its not really an '87, but an '88. Also, looking at the pics, don't first gen 4runners with the 3vze have the "v6" symbol bellow the "Toyota" on the grill?
If you looked at the ad, any idea as to what the problem could be? It sounds firmiliar, so I'm searching it here, but any quick response would be appreciated!

Could just be that he's going off the built date on the doorjamb sticker. It may say 11/87 but is an '88 model.
I bought my '07 model tacoma in Nov. of '06. If someone just looked at the built date, they would call it an '06

if it had the V6 it would say it under the toyota on the grill and 88 was the first year of the 3.0L in the runners!
i say call them and talk to them and see if \they can send you the vin number to make sure everything is ok with it cause with the vin number you can see the year gears everything about it!!

I think I can see SR5 v6 Badges on the tailgate, but its blurry.
To convert that to a 3vze is silly, im betting its an 88. Made in late 87.
*edit * damn, you two beat me to it!
