i have a 90 sas'd witha new motor and 5.29's and 9 inches of lift and run 37's just fine, and i do good on gas mileage, i am gonna bring mine down abit cause it's too tall though, i am also thinking about running 36's too depending on if i rub with i bring it down to 6 or 7 or 8 inches of lift. it's one of those personal preference type of things, i ran 35's with stock gears for a while and it did just fine for me, and i love my 5.29's and 37's

As for overdrive, I am not sure.

I have not spent much time cruising at highway speed.

My truck, with an auto, DD's decent. It doesn't start or go fast and I would be lying to someone if I said it drove stock.

Yeah it's probably more of a "tire jock excuse for sloppy work" than a reality. They sure like to use it though. I always tell them I've been running BFG mud-t 33's for 8 years and they always ran smooth before. Then when they see I'm not going to give up and go away, they somehow manage to get them to balance out on the 2nd or 3rd try. Funny they always spend twice as long balancing the front tires as the rear, so I go straight home and rotate the back to the front and check the rears on the front. If they shake the steering wheel I go back and have them rebalance the front again. It's a PITA and usually takes half a day to get 4 big mud tires balanced and running smooth.

Adrian, so are you trailering your rig around now?

Trailering? Ha!

I am back to school working on a Master's. This means driving about 30 miles a week almost always around town. I have not yet fixed my tach from the engine swap, so I am not sure what RPM's I am turning.

You have a SC with fuel work and a stick, right? I would be worried with 35's that you may not be able to load the charger enough.

Nope, auto....load it with what? Fuel?

S/C's take rpm's to operate, and to get optimal boost you may be at too low of a rpm in OD with 35's to take full advantage of it without having to downshift... thou with your 5.29's you would probally be fine...

Dale, where are you getting the work done?? Same place or different places?

I had Sam's Club (the big one by Quail Springs Mall) put on my 33s about 3 years ago, and have had no trouble with balancing issues.

I thought I had balancing issues, but that turned out to be that bent driveshaft...another issue altogether.

Wow, lots of info for you there drew303. If you REALLY want to run 37's and are already doing the SAS, then why not drop in a Chevy powerplant? Then atleast you won't have to run 5.71's!!

I'd take the 5.71s anyday over a Chevy I ran 5.71s for about 45,000 miles they were great with the 3.slo.

Yes, lots of great replies =)

So far the plan, which was the original is the one I'll keep. 35x12.5R15 mud rovers. I don't like the idea of running them on the 15x8 alloys i have now but I've seen it done with great success. Buddy of mine that works at Schwabs said its a PITA to mount 12.5's on 8" rims but it's fine. the pain in the butt part being it's his job and the tougher the mount, regardless, the more its avoided =P
