87 Toyota 4x4. Can't get my 4x4 to work the front driver side hub is making grinding sound when locked and when locked and in 4wd any help would be great thanks

You know where the noise is coming from.

If the hub won't lock, there can be no 4 wheel drive.

There are plenty of locking hub function and repair threads....????

Open it up and look.

 

Sounds like the spindle bushing is dry. Search spindle lubricator. Common on IFS and cold weather.
