Hey guys !

I need some help here !

While wheeling a couple of days ago, my front diff. stopped engaging, and a 4WD light went off.
Barely made it home in 2wd, washed it, all vacuum lines looked ok, and can hear some kind of a click in the front when stitching from 2wd into 4wd, however front drive shaft can be rotated freely by hand ( transfer case not engaging ???), while in 4wd in park.
Tried to go through every combination – 4H – 4L- with the same result.

Anyone can help, I’m little tight on budget, so trip to mechanic is not looked forward to !

Any input will be appreciated !!!

1995? auto diif disconnect? alot of 4x4 switches fail, check the switches on the shifter of the transfer case and should have contact through them in the different modes. if no contact is made the front diff wont be enguaged. you can use a jumper in place of the switch to see if the diff locks up. i think the switch on the left side should be the one but dont hold me too it. the transfer case should mechanicly enguage the front drive shaft though and the switch on t case should tell comp to lock diff. let me know.
