4wd not working

86 4runner auto the linkage works i have the axle's locked doesnt seem like its pulling from the front. seems to be a pretty basic setup what can go wrong?

trucks been sitting along time i locked the hubs in and drove it a mile before shifting into 4wd to make sure it was fairly lubed in there

any pictures from underneath would help the book doesnt describe much and im new to these

i wouldnt have any doubt if it was missing something since the people who owned this truck before rebuilt the motor - rod bearings

by jacking up the front a little bit, you could turn the front driveshaft and make sure the wheels are turning. or turn a wheel and make sure the driveshaft is turning... the manual hubs have a barrel inside that is spring loaded, and moves in and out on an eccentric as you rotate the dial. If its corroded inside, it might rotate but not drop into lock mode... unless something was 'removed', like your front driveshaft, there's no reason you shouldn' t have power to the front diff when you move the transfer case into 4wd.
