4wd actin weird
it was snowin in my area last night, and my driveway was covered with ice. i tried twice to get up it in 2wd and couldnt. so i went and locked my hubs in. when i put it in 4high, the front end of my truck bounced bad. it felt like i had square tires if you can imagine that. the fourwheel drive worked, but it bouced bad. adn it wasnt bc i was on paavent either bc ive drove it in 4wheel drive on the road before and it wasnt near this bad. i checked my cv axels and they look fine. im blank. so help me out fellers!!!

it does the same thing. i just drove it like that. my CVs are only about 2 months old. could it be caused by a steep angle on the CVs? cuz mine are really steep. you cant hardly see the cvs in the pics but you can tell there ssteep by the a arms i guess there called

Well, that's good - it means it's probably not in the tcase.
Your sig says you have a 3" AAL and BJ spacers - so did you crank the tbars to make it level?
My next suggestion would be to jack up the front and spin the wheels by hand (with the hubs locked tcase in 2WD) and see what you can see/feel.

come to think of it thats the first time ive had my hubs locked in since the new cvs. my old ones did fine after my lift and everything. so maybe the guy that put em in for me did somethin wrong??

im pretty sure now that the reason it bounced so bad is bc of the steep angle. im gonna let down my tbars to stock height and put a 2inch leaf or block in the back

other things to check:
... are your front prop shaft u-joints timed properly? (and I'm not sure this is your problem 'cause I can't imagine someone doing it to install BJ spacers, but you never know )
... are your front and rear tires the same size?

Here's why its important they are "timed" or "in phase"
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...ies/ujoint.avi
See how the driveshaft accelerates and decelerates while the speed of what would be the diff pinion flange and the T-case output flange stay constant? If the two u-joints are out of phase, then there will be some vibration.
From 4Crawler's page http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...line-101.shtml
That said, unless you had a tall bracket lift (and big driveline angles), I wouldn't think this would be all that noticeable. I would put my money on it being that your CVs are at such a steep angle that they are binding. Only way to fix this is by lowering the T bar crank.

you always got good info lol. bu tseriously... you do. i think its bc of the steep angle also. im buyin a 2inch aal and lettin my tbars back down. hopefully next week. plus im gettin 35s with 3/4 tread fro $200 bucks !

truck off, in 2wd get under it and lock one front hub at a time and turn the front driveshaft by hand. see if either of the cv's are binding at ride height. that's about the same angle mine are at and only one of them slightly starts to bind a full droop so I'd be surprised if that's your issue. at least by getting under it and turning the driveshaft by hand you'll have a much better idea of where the issue is coming from

alright ill give that a try when i get the chance. how rough does your truck ride? i think its where my cvs are at such a bind because as steep as they are, it looks like there not even hardly long enough

well I can't really say how mine ride, I only lock in the front hubs when I need 4 wheel and that's only ever in low range under 15mph. I have no weird vibrations or binding though. I extended my droop bumpstops and inch to prevent binding.

well in my normal road driving the hubs are unlocked so the cv's and front driveshaft aren't spinning. however if I have to take a quick trip on pavement or a 1/4 mile or so with the front hubs locked I still don't have any major vibrations. I can feel them spinning though.
