Ok so my tailgate window motor went out and the windows up and just curious as to how the heck you get to the motor without being able to drop the tailgate?

I had to climb in and take off all the access panels from the inside while lying in the cargo area of my rig.

i unbolted my top, used my back and legs to lift it up and had someone hold the lift gate as it came down.

lol, ya, and actually, i lied. i lifted the top off without anyones help, and the tail gate slammed down with the window fully up, i was lucky it didnt break. I just threw in the "extra helper" so you didnt make the same dumb ass mistake i did...but ya, im having problems with mine too...

The tailgate shouldn't be able to open with window up. The window regulator mechanically catches and engages the tailgate lock as the window rolls up. And until the window disappears down back into the tailgate, that tailgate will NOT unlock.

Are you sure its the motor thats bad? Typically that is LAST to blame on these... not impossible just improbable.

Not 100% sure but it did the usual slow death of a motor, started gettin slower and slower until it quit, but I haven't checked the connections or the switch yet
