4runner dying problems

friend has a 91 4runner with the 3.0v6 for some reason it will just die at random times no sputtering or anything just caput nothing. the battery and all the other eletric items are all hooked up any ideas?

is it when he is traffic and it is idleing or anything? Mine does that too but usually mines sputters a little bit.

When it dies, will it start right back up? When was a routine maintenance last done? (spark plugs, wires, etc.)

ya mine starts right back up no problem and we did a tune-up around late december of 2005

it happens when he is driving or just idling you never really know when its going to happen i have no idea when it had its last maintance its got 180k on it but he picked it up for 250 but old wires or spark plug would cause a sputtering or missing right?
