3VZE Won't run: Fuel Delivery?

Stored my 4Runner parts donor outside, NY winter. Spring's here went to get her out of the woods and she won't run.
Spray Carb cleaner in throttle and she'll run on that, guessing it's a fuel delivery problem.
Hopefully before I start undoing fuel lines/filters/pumps, someone will have had a similar issue and share their super easy fix.

Fingers crossed
Mike

Is there fuel in the tank? Won't be the first time some black bears with a fuel can and a piece of hose came by ....

Is the intake plumbing all hooked up? If disconnected (e.g., to spray carb cleaner into the throttle body) no air will go through the VAF, and no fuel injected engine can run on that (specifically, the fuel pump won't even stay running).

Before you mess with "fuel lines/filters/pumps" jumper FP to B+. With key-on, you should be able to hear the fuel pump running. If not, you have a problem in the COR/VAF circuit.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply:
Fuel in tank, stuck 2 fresh gallons in there just in case.
Yes jumped the B+ and FP heard the pump running.
Managed to get her to run but just barely, continual pumping of the gas pedal. If fuel is getting in there it's minimal.
So I'll be researching fuel delivery: Without a fuel pressure gauge what's the easiest thing to remove to look for good flow?

Not counting my chickens, but just checked on my V6 truck and yes removing the air intake from throttle body = non running engine.
Will update once the battery is charged [amazing it lasted all winter, but a few cranks and she's dead].

I don't think it's fuel flow. But if you want to check, the easiest way is to get some 10mm (5/8) hose, and connect the fuel return line from the Fuel Pressure regulator to a gas can (I prefer clear vinyl hose; not good for long term exposure to gasoline, but fine for this). With fuel pump running, a good flow to the gas can tells you you've got plenty of fuel flow (or, maybe, a busted FPR -- you'll need a pressure gauge to check that).

If no fuel flow at all (or just a dribble), I'd check the fuel filter first. (Laying around all winter isn't that good for gasoline.) Alas, changing a 3VZE fuel filter is not for the faint of heart. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ctures-218962/

Incidentally, we used to pump the gas pedal back in the days of carburetors because that would work the accelerator pump and it would enrichen the mixture. With fuel injection, it's only a way to keep time with the music.

Many Thanks Sope103.
Yes it was the air intake I'd disconnected to spray the throttle. Phew!
Ye olde timer grew up on Carbs, so thanks for the foot tapping info.
