3vze oil leak sources

Went on a ~350 mile trip today and noticed some oil leaks underneath when I got home. Any ideas where I should look first?

Don't forget: gravity is not you friend. Oil that leaks from anywhere will work its way down and back, looking like a leak in the main seal.

Get a can of spray-on degreaser, hose it off with a garden hose. Get your engine clean enough to eat from. The oil should show up pretty quickly after that.

I have heard of (and experienced) leaks from the backs of the valve covers. Sometimes, just putting your hand back there is enough to tell (since they are at the top of the engine, oil there isn't as likely to have come from somewhere else.)

the second "leak" is pretty obviously coming from the pinion. a pinion seal change is in your future. i have done two of these, they are pretty easy with basic tools. buy a genuine toyota seal.

Would the leak from the pinion be gear oil? I did a touch and smell check and it doesn’t smell like gear oil.

Looks damp around the oil drain? And the crossmember?

If from above it would blow all over the place while running. Hose down and idle run needed to pinpoint.
