anyone know any mods for the 3.0L? i just want better acceleration, cuase i can barely make it up to speed when getting on an uphill onramp to a freeway... when everyone is passing you and speeding their way up the hill i am jsut kinda LAGGING. any help would be good

 

Well first off are you running oversized tires if so you should
1.) regear
2.) understand that you will never get great highway performance with huge offroad tires

That aside, there's not much on the market for 3.0's. You can look into headers, catback exhaust, and do a search on the ISR mod. Keep in mind that nothing you do is gonna transform this motor into a powerhouse.

 

Can you fill out your sig with vehicle, mods, tires, etc...?

That would help a lot.

Before everyone jumps on you might I politely suggest you search. Trust, the first 3.0's hit our streets 20 years ago (1988) and the last 13 (1995). This topic has been.. um.. covered.

Typically knowing if you have for example installed larger tires helps with things like this. 9 times out of 10 someone approaches the forum with, for example, oversized tires wanting to do engine upgrades to restore performance. To that we respond you need to regear diffs and tune up the engine first... etc... So year, engine.. mods are necessary for us to help you.

Modifications that will give you satisfying performance:

1) LCE Pro Flow 2 1/4" mandrel bent exhaust.

2) LCE Headers

3) Cams

4) Synthetic oil & Synthetic drive train fluids.

The above mentioned modifications from the few who have done them, will give you more satisfying performance with your 3vze.

 

1) Downey Headers and Exhaust

2) Cold air intake (50$ easy and cheap)

3) Port and polish <--- the expensive one, but it does a lot.

 

Forgot to add:

5) New spark plugs

6) new cables

 

im not sure sparks and cables will get you that much better performance, but i think it will increase your mpg.

i just put in ngk irridiums and i love em.
