I own a 1995 4runner and ive been wandering if i can change the tranny and put something thats semi automatic like the tranny in the new 4runner. has anyone done this or have any ideas on how to do it?? thanks

 

do you have a manual now? semi-automatic? need more info, but anything is possible, do a search lots of folks have swapped trannies

 

You're pretty much limited to an R150, R151 with R150 bell housing (both manuals), or the A340 automatic. The A340 is electronically controlled and there are several ways to make it 'semi-auto'. Clownmeat on here is currently working on a paddle shift setup:

yea i have the original tranny...which is the automatic that came with the 95...but i want something like the new 4runners tranny or something that i can shift it when i want but still keep automatic when i want

 

i want something like clownmeat's just i want either paddles, or just have the trannys where u can move the lever and it goes into manual.
