37's on a 2nd Gen 4runner - Pics and how much lift??

I'm entering my 4runner in a show 'n' shine in may, which I got two 2nd places in last year. This yeah I'd love to get a 1st, and since I'll have some brand new 37x14 R15 Iroks sitting around doing nothing while my zook gets built, I've been thinking of trying to get them to fit.

Currently my 4runner has 5" lift (2" Body, 3" Susp (BJ Spacers))...and it runs 35's without too much dramas, but I usally have 33's fitted as the 35's do scrub.

To fit them I will put a 3" bodylift in, and wind the front up as much as I can too, and maybe put some 4" coils that I've got in the rear. The show is about 2hrs away so I will have to drive it like this. So does anybody have any pics of 2nd gen's on 37's, and also know what kinda lift they have got? am I wasting my time even thinking about it??

Heres what my runner looks like on 35's.

4wheeler.ca has a really good "Show your yota" thread with some really big 4runners, so that might be a good place to look.

35's are pushing it, 37's will be punishing on IFS, but for a temporary thing on the street, it might be OK.

What are your CV angles like now? Manual hubs?

If you're scrubbing with 35x12.50 now, I don't think another 1" of body lift + another 1" or so from Tbar crank will allow you to fit 37x14.50.

Who did you lose to? Will the bigger tires do it for sure?

CV Angles aren't too bad, the diff has been spaced down an 1" to reduce them. I did this when I installed the ball joint spacers in the front, and yep manual hubs.

I'm not sure who I lost to last year, pretty sure it was to a rig that had heaps more touring mods than mine. It wasn't any bigger, thats for sure. We don't get many big trucks over here compared to you guys as modifications laws suck over here!! I want the big rubber on it for the Holy ˟˟˟˟˟ factor. I reckon it'll help heaps!!!

I've tee'd up a mate of a mate who has some 37x14's mounted on 15x8's to let me bolt on two tonight...Mine are still on there way to Oz on the slow boat, and are meant to arrive mid April....

So I'll know tonight if it's going to be worthwhile.....I'll post some pics of how it looks of how it looks....If not, it looks like I can borrow some 35 Boggers off the tyre shop that is semi sponsoring my zook.

Thanks for the replies so far but.....would love to see more pics if anybody has got them but!!

Hi Dave!

While the diamater will certainly be a bit of an issue, I think the bigger problem is the tire width and your firewall clearance. I know my 33's were getting into my firewall a good bit and I plan to tub it to fit my 35's I've decided on (I'm going the low lift/trim route though)

Dave: Off-Topic.....Your engine mount pics on your website are showing as seat mods. Do you have those posted somewhere? I'm to that point in my swap now...

Some of the pics on my website are stuffing up at the moment, my mate that does it all hasn't had time to fix it.....The pics that are shown there, are the same as my Buildup thread on Lextreme, or most of my Lexus V8 swap pics are on the web here http://www.4wdlinks.com.au/gallery/album285 If you need any specific pictures send me a email, and I'll get them for you.

Now for the pics of my 2nd Gen 4Runner on 37s....which turned out to have quite surprising results. They fitted a lot better in the front than I thought they would, I could get full look with no scrubbing, but the rear was a lot worse.....there is much room at all to move back there. Not sure what I'll do, I can probably borrow a set of 35 swampers or boggers, which will look just as good, or when my 37s finally turn up, I'll put the 3" bodylift back in and see how they go then. Mine will be going on Mickey Thomson 15x8 Classic II's, so it'll look a lot better than the rims pictured.

Heres the pics.

The front could get full lock without scrubbing.

But the rear was bloody close front and rear.

Geez Cebby - are we ever going to see this thing on the trail in Wellsville, or is it a permanent mod-mobile?

Next time you see it, it will have the 1UZ, dual ultimate, 35's on SR5 beadlocks, and maybe a little armor thrown in...

Yep, it's taking a while - I have other transportation, so it gets worked on when I have a chance. Other priorities at the moment. Believe me, no one wants it done more than me...

Thanks for that Cebby, I was about to post the same pics...

They are about $100 AUD and pretty easy to fit.
