So im sure I can fit them both with a good enough lift but I was told on here that 35"s should be as high as i go unless i want problems left and right. I would also do some fender work to avoid tearing up my tires. But i see alot of 0ther 4runner wheeling just fine in 37"s. Ill only be doing mud trails(everglades) in Miami and will prob never wheel on rocks or realllly steep inclines.

 

I have 35 x 12.5's on my 2nd gen and it requires at the least a 4" lift and some pinchweld trimming with 3.75" backspacing on the rims but I still get some rubbing at full lock left and right. 37's will require a bit more lift and trimming and I am not too sure if you will still have rubbing at full lock this is for course on I.F.S.

On my S.A.S. 35 x 12.5's are no problem and I don't see any issues with the 37'or 38's but then you run into a cog (center of gravity) issue but if your staying in mud holes you will probably be OK with the cog. Either way you are going to also need to regear to 5.29's for 35's/5.71's for 37's or bigger if you have a 5 speed and 5.71's if you have auto.

You could probably get some good info on what set up and how they work from some of the guy's you see running around on the 37's and the pro's and con's. I am sure most of them would love to talk truck and lift's if you just ask.

 

I plan on running a 4" lift and a 3" body with that im sure i can run 35's and with some trimming 37's or 38's but i was wondering about the axles and steering components. Thats alotta meat to turn.

carry some spare cv's and get a steering box support like total chaos or downey and take any lift out of your t-bars if you have any try to get the cv's as flat as possible.
