33 x 12.5 on stock rim?

I have a 1990 4Runner SR5 with Downey springs and torsion bars.

Is it possible to fit 33x12.5 tires on stock aluminum rims and get no rubs? Is it even possible to fit 33x12.5 on stock aluminum 15 inch rims?

Thanks.

once I put 37x12.5 MT/R-s to 8" mangels rim. It didnt look good and offroad perfomance wasnt good either. 12.5 inch tire fits perf 8-10" rim... stock rim should be 6-7", i think its gonna look like rubber donut.

Possible. You may have trouble getting them mounted. Most tire places will want an 8" rim for that wide of a tire, but you can ask before you buy.

You will experience rub, however. You will have to pound the pinchwelds flat, and even then might rub when stuffed and turning, depending on how much crank you put on your t-bars.

Mounting the tires will not be a problem. I run 12.5" wide tires on my factory 7" wheels.
Can't help w/ the actual fitment.

One of the perks of running a tire store, I guess...

Nice new shoes! How do they ride on pavements?

They ride pretty good, but there is no mistaking that they are mud tires.

mount your own!

no problems with 12.50s on 7" rims here, i had a spare 33x.12.50 on a 6" rim as well, no major problems as a spare..wouldnt use a 6" and a 12.5 on the street

as for rubbing, there should be little, no problems handling a 33x12.50 might rub at full lock and or under full compression

Eh, I'm sure you'll be fine. The tire stores around here are sorta dicks anyway. just warning you to ask before you pay someone the money.

Totally OT here, but still amusing.

When wire wheels were the "in" thing, we used to mount 155/80R13's on 13x10 reverse knock-offs.
Talk about a bitch to mount.lol

On a 1990? I had serious rubbage with 1.5" lift on my 87, with 12.50's. Perhaps they will be fine. Good luck.

One option to consider would be a set of 33x10.50's...would mount on the stock rim w/o issue..Seems like you would have some serious bulging putting 12.50's on a 7" rim...

Thanks. I guess I will have to consider new rims too.

It will fit the rim fine.

It will rub horribly at turn and on the pinch weld. you need at least a 2" body lift to run them and a wheel spacer or a crank on the torsion bars. Otherwise they will rub the upper control arms, the pinch weld, the body and at full lock/turn.

33x10.5 will run fine on a stock rim and no lift, thats what you want if you dont have a lift.

Still may run the pinch weld but you can pound that flat if need be.

Why dont you just get a 2" suspension lift with balljoint spacers up front and land cruiser coils in the rear and find rims with less than 4" of backspacing? 3.75 backspaced rims and fender flares will allow you to run 33x12.5's with a 2" body lift with ease, no rubbing, nada but a suspension lift is better. The backspacing acts like the wheel spacer.

What do you wanna do? Do you want a true lift or do you wanna be a mall crawler?
