Why don't you start with putting it in the air. Try putting it into 4wd and see what happens. Post back here after you try that and see where we stand. I will do some more looking in the mean time.

Is it possible that when water got in that the vacuum line filled? Your local I got a set of small jack stands you can use.

Can't say I blame her it is a good idea since we live in the meth capital of the country. I'll probably have a kid or dog in tow. It doesn't have to be a packaged deal either. You won't hurt my feelings if you just need the jackstands. Just remember where you got them.

Hate to hijack, but tacoma is nothing compared to spokane when it comes to methheads/tweakers.
And spokane is nothing compare to cusick.

Nothing is a relative term.

There is a reason we call it "Methford Oregon". Ha Ha. I would have to say that Modesto California would have to be right up there with Tweeker Capitol as well. I guess that it just depends on where your at and what you see when your there compared to everywhere else. Its all about context.

so i started looking things over and i ended up switching the vacuum lines on the front end around, and now when put into 4wd the light comes on and stays lit, so i think it might of been the air lined where backwards, just looking for something that tells me what way the lines should be on.

I looked at mine and there are the two lines that come down by the frame rails. The line that is closest to the front of the rig is plugged into the line that is closest to the front of the 4runner. The line that is behind that is also the line that is behind the one on the frame. If that makes sense. Basically they mirror each other as they come down off the frame in relationship to how they plug into the two ports on the front of the diff.

However, if you switched them around and they work, then problem solved, no matter what order they come down to the diff from.

Did your 4wheel drive work before the water accident? Is this the first time you have tried it?

Best way to tell. Put it into 4wd, go for a drive and make a turn on pavement. The front end should have some binding during a turn. If it drives normal, then 4wd is not working. I would bet that since your light is now on and working properly that the rest of the system is working properly.

Did you remove the hoses for any reason? I am just wondering how they got switched around to begin with...

i got the rig a couple months ago and have not needed 4wd tell now, i did pull the lines off last week and put new vacuum lines but followed where they where before, i talked to the po and he also said it did the same to him, i did put it in 4wd and i dont really think it binded up much, but am going to still jack it up and see how all the wheels turn, i did pull the actuator couple weeks back and cleaned up to make sure it is moving, so i might have to reopen it and make sure its in the right location.

The actuator really only goes in one way. I don't see how you could not put it into the right location.

I would try in 4 low and see where your at with binding. I would still jack it up and see if you got any positive tire spin on the front. As for the PO having the same problem, most likely didn't really care about 4wd and didn't want to mess with it. He bought it that way, and sold it that way.

I would still have to say that if the light now stays on it should work, assuming you don't have a vacuum line leaking issue and the front accuator not getting the suction it needs. But since you changed those lines you should be ok

what i mean by right location is that the fork in the right location and not slipped in in the wrong spot, i have seen a couple threads about people having there's in the wrong spot so when put in 4wd it moves it a little but not all the way into location. that's what i meant..
