the brain is inside the truck, there was water right up to it, i took all the carpet and seats out last night and put a heater in it to dry it out, i am getting a can of wd-40 to spray in connectors and tps to get the moister out of them and see if something is shorting out or not, i have ran the 4runner for over 30 mins, and it runs good tell warmed up, then stutters then dies, i get it restarted and will idle but if i hit the gas it wants to die so thats why im thinking tps..
muddpigg, would be great but im working all this week if my boss does not keep pissing me off.

X2 for what vital22 says, it is running bad when it warms up because it is going into closed loop, it is a sensor issue rather your TPS or maybe your AFM, unplug and check your O2 sensor connectors also.

I was thinking, you might check to see if the muffler got plugged with mud and water. Maybe cat too. Just a thought.
You would get lots of moisture if muffler was full of water and it would run rather poor if partially plugged with junt/mud.

Good to hear. Can you give us an idea or the symptoms your having with the 4wd. Is it not engaging, or front tires are turning, ect. Would like to help, but need some where to start. What have you tried?

i started a new thred on it, but here goes, when i put it in 4wd the light blinks 3 times and the relay clicks then stops, doesnt stay lit i have checked the diafram on the front end and it moves, and i do get vacuum when i put it in 4wd but im not sure if it stayed or just when the relay clicking, i tested the relay and its good,

Are you an automatic? Not to sound mean, but if you are, make sure that you have the transmission in neutral before you shift the transfercase. I just want to make sure we cover all the bases.
And yes he did hijack his own thread. Ha Ha

The owners manuel says "To shift from H2 to H4 move the front drive control lever with the lock release button depressed.
The indicator light may not come on even if you shift into H4. If the vehicle is stopped, starting out the vehicle will turn it on. If the vehicle is moving, depress or release the accelerator pedal slightly"
So yes you should be able to shift from H2 to H4 without setting the tranny to neutral. But to go to L4 you have too.
I will do some more research for the blinking. I would assume that since your getting a blinking that your not engaging the 4wd system. Blinking then going to usually means that the system never engages. I have had the same problem in the past on Tundra I owned with the blinking issue and it was just driver error on my part. Never owned an automatic until then, always had a manuel tranny.

ok, so your definetly not going into 4wheel drive. The light should come on after some movement, usually about 20 to 30 feet or so and then the light usually come on. Give me a minute while I checking something.

ok, have you checking your fluid levels. You can have an issue with the engagement of 4wd if the transfercase fluid is too low. Did you check it after the boating excursion? You have add right?

The VSV (Vacuum Switching Valve) that actuates the vacuum to the ADD ( and turns on the dash light) may have gone south. It's located on the passenger inner fender well.
Switching the vacuum lines prolly won't make the light come on, but it 'should' force the ADD to engage. You should switch them back before you want to go back into 2WD.
Try this. I would either put the truck on jack stands and try or in a muddy field.

yeah i have add... i have not checked the levels on the transfer case yet, didnt think of it, i did take the valve up front and check it and made sure it had vacuum and moves, i also know the wires are hooked up i have checked that. i guess i need to get it off the ground and start doing more testing with a volt meter. i also know the sensor on the front does work. i have tested it.
