3.4l swap

3.4l swap
I"ve tried a search and nothing answered my questions. I have a '86 4x4 with a 22re engine. I also have a complete '95 Tacoma 4x4 that is totaled, but it good engine tranny and transfer case, and all wiring. Both are manual trannys. I know that I'll need to make motor mounts, get a 3.0l oil pan and cut the hood. How do I handle the transfer case since the differential is on the opposite side? Do they make an adapter plate that will mount the 22re transfer case to the Taco tranny? Any other parts you can think of would be helpful. Or a link to someone wh has done it. I found one link but they used dual transfer case set up, and the wiring was not addressed. Thanks for any help.

You want to keep your Trans and t-case. I dont' think the tacoma t-cas is gear driven like the one you have. If you plan to go dual cases or regear your t-case low, it'll be more common.
There are folks out there that have done this successfully. Search the 4x4wire.com also.

Actually, he won't be able to keep his trans, and even if he could, it would last only a few months before falling apart - that G52 can't handle 190HP.
Put the engine and tranny in the truck, buy an R150->gear drive tcase adapter from Marlin or Inchworm and you're all set.
Definitely work w/ ORS.

huzzah for old thread revival...
but
Since I am doing the 3.4L swap soon, I want to use the 3.4 manual trans, and re-use my gear drive tcase (86 4runner).
I noticed marlin has an adpater for a gear drive case to the 99 4runner tranny. Has anyone used this adapter before? Can anyone give me guidance on what all has to be done to adapt my W56 gear drive case to my R150 994Runner transmission?
Reasoning for all this is ease of install, and lower expense. If I can just use the gear drive case on the 99 4runner trans, I wont have to go purchase a T100 tranny, thus saving me hundreds.
