it may be cheaper to 3.4 swap.... a remanufactured 3.0 will run about 2g depend on the shop. i got my 3.4 swap done for 2100... good luck on whatever you choose to do..

AHHHH this picture makes me feel great... this guy must have smoked some INTENSE pot to make that mistake... doesnt mean he made others..but its more of a chance hahaha... oh man..that is so funny.... dude.. if ur pullin it, droppin the pan... ur heads are already off... change ur rings, rebore if u can....or if u cant cuz of money like me u will be fine.. but its not worth puttin it back in after its out and naked like that to not redo ur rings... make sure ur timing is good too...

Thanks for all the advice guys- Since this was supposed to be a cheap project I'm going to stick with this engine. I'll pull it and go through the whole thing. I bought the 4Runner knowing the engine needed work but it spent it's life in VA so there's no rust on the body/ frame at all! Would be worth sticking a JDM engine in if needed. Is the 3.4 a direct drop in or do other componenets need to be swapped as well?

The computer needs to be from the 3.4, and it's best to use the 3.4 clutch with the 3.0 throwout bearing...some wiring...but the blocks are the same, so 3.0 motor mounts will work and it bolts up to the tranny. If you're curious for more info, check out www.yotatech.com/f160.
