3.0 idle problems

94 x-cab 3.0 v6. I'm having trouble figuring this one out? When I start the truck and let it get to operating temp. it will idle at 700-800 rpm's. Then after driving when I stop at a light or stop sign it will sometimes idle at like 2000rpm's and not drop unless I shut the engine of and restart. Any suggestions?

Try spiking the gas pedal. You may have a sticky throttle cable. I know mine does the same sometimes if I'm cruising down the highway for an extended period of time. I'll push in the clutch and the tach will read way above idle if I come to a stop.

I had a similar prob, Had some goo on the throttle cable, cleaned it off and she's fine...

Also check for vacume leaks...(The computer should be able to compinsate for most of this kind of prob, but somtimes not)
