Exclamation 3.0 Hesitation during acceleration

OK Guys First off I love this site.I have found many people that have helped me along the way. Thank you very much because I Dont know alot about cars.

Ok I have a 93 4runner V6 I am having power loss and Electrical Problems. BEFORE YOU SAY GO READ THE OTHER POST,I HAVE IM NOT LAZY TRUST ME I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

When I pull away from a red light With the pedal to the metal it seems like it hesitates like the tranny is slipping. I know a V6 dont really have power but i mean my 4runner has almost no power. I read about Electronic Control Modules, and the ect button in the center consoe,Code 52? I dont really know about cars i just need to know someone to tell my mechanic where to start looking so he dont charge me an arm and a leg.

Now to the Electrical Part. First off these two problems could be non related but im 99.9 percent sure they are. When i turn my signal light on the charge needle in the dash dances. My battery dies offen it might set for a week and i go to start it and it wont even try. I also read about a throttle position sensor maybe that has something to do with the electrical issue? I DO NOT HAVE A BLOWN HEADGASKET

I will answer any questions. Please help God Bless

Code 52 is the Knock sensor and is very commonly defective on these engines. Usually the Knock sensor with the wiring harness gets burnt up its a common design issue. The knock sensor being defective would retard the timing at improper times and cause a "no power" issue. The electrical issue sounds a bad battery. It would be best to have your alt and battery tested. Alt belt tight? Check the battery for voltage with the truck on and off. Truck off should be atleast 12-12.6 truck on about 14+ <-- If not the case for one or the other... well you know what to do. If you are curious about the trans "possibley slipping" then check fluid?(Remember truck has to be running) Ad fluid as needed.

Leave the EGR and TPS alone. You need those. Replace if defective. How about check # 1....Determine if it's the Engine OR the Tranny. (sounds too simple but you have to narrow it down).Try putting the truck in neutral while parked and rev the engine and see if it is revving properly and snappy, up and down. Also hold the rpms around 3,000RPM and see if it is running smoothly..

I understand. It could be the tranny slipping like you mentioned. But it could be the engine.http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...nce/2maint.pdf
Check the link above and see if the trouble shooting pages are there. Or find a factory manual. It does have a trouble shooting section..

Before you get ahead of yourself and get confused (it's easy to do with an EFI system), why don't you follow the first suggestions by Kiroshu and deal with the knock sensor and voltage issues. First things first, one step at a time...... ya know?

Or have you already? You haven't said so.

Just a comment....with an EFI system, you're going to have to resolve voltage issues as the entire electronic system needs a certain amount to work right. It all gets weird otherwise.

The following link has good instructions as to how to pull your codes, as well as the best cheap code reader
