3.0 engine replacement advice

My 3.0 is tired. I bought a running 3.0 engine when I was in Illinois, wrapped it in plastic, drug it home and got ready to install, only to find water had gotten in to 3 cylinders. Some damage to the wall was noted. I will be returning to the states in mid January, and really need to get this thing going. Yes I know rebuilding it myself is best, but I do not have the time. I am considering a "rebuilt" engine from Engine world(JDM) from Houston $1700 was quoted(New Pistons, rings valves guides seals etc.
I have priced having my block cleaned and machined, me installing a kit from engbldr, and having the heads done, and the cost will be there at 1700 as well, not counting my labor and time.
Anybody had any dealings with Engine world? The local reviews ar a bit mixed.
I plan on rebuilding the engine that is in it in my "free time" which translates to a 9+ month process. Any advice or criticism is welcome!

$1700 towards a 3.4 swap is a much better investment IMO

If looking to swap engine, check toyonlyswaps.com they could quote you a price for engine, ecu and wiring harness. A little more than $1700, but the 3.4 is a bit more engine.

I agree. I see a 3.4 5.0 EFI or a diesel swap down the road. I want to be able to research it before I tear into it, and right now I need it back on the road. Currently it has either some burned/stuck valves or some busted rings. She smokes like heck and uses 2 qts of oil for every 10 miles travelled. I dont have many tailgaters when I drive her to town! I'm no stranger to extreme mods. My other passion is early bronco, It took me 2.5 years of research, building mockups collecting parts to graft a 351W and a 5.0 Cobrajet mustang EFI system under a stock hood. 2 weekends to install, and 1 week to work out the major bugs. Thats how I roll!
