Don't you mean 22re to 3.0 swap?

Why would you want to go down to the 22re?

If you're going through all that trouble go 3.4. Either way the tranny, wiring, computer, motor mounts, etc.. are all different. The 22's are frustrating at times, but hold their own to an extent. Save yourself the hassle and take it for what it is or find a deal on a 3.0. Fast, Cheap, Reliable.......choose two.

way to make the new guy feel welcome

as to your question onion i would go 3.4 if your going to do a swap you dont have to change and reweld your frame mounts for your motor that way. if you go 22re your going to have to cut off the 3.0 mounts and reweld some new ones on.

As far as the rest Unknown was wrong. yes you would have to replace the computer but not the tranny in most cases you can use your 3.0 tranny with your 22re or 3.4. See Sig. otherwise its actually fairly simple to do either swap.

manula tranny - there is an "issue"

3.0L 3VZ used an R series tranny
2.4L 22RE used a G or W series tranny

The trans side bolt patterns are different

So the 22RE needs a W or G series tranny (i.e. the tranny that came with it)

To get the 3VZ tranny to work with a 22RE you need a rare "Turbo" bell housing... more $$$ than its worth to do IMHO... just get a W series tranny and bell

even though your friend has a 22re available I would recomend you try and put a 3.4L in there, that engine runs circles around the 22re and 3vze.
