Oh by the way; just wanted to throw an idea out there and see what every body thinks.

My future goal is for this car to have a total chaos long travel front end; and have about equal the travel in the rear but still have enough room to put my fullsize raptor700 in the bed of the truck (aka.. no HUGE bed cage). I do want to have a semi engine cage for shock hoops and radiator protection.. but here is my idea. well I guess 7m4x4dude's idea. He has a 1jzgte laying in my other brothers garage that he was going to put into a mk3 87' supra we have.. but after the project has been sitting for two years; he is thinking of just selling the shell and giving me the 1jzgte. Yeah.. GIVING. I know BIC performance sells motor mounts and a transmission mount to fit a R154 in (we have several of them laying around from previous mk3 supra's we have owned..) but I just.. Really don't like electric fans... I'm thinking.. cut out the radiator support; remove the hood latch and put the radiator foward 3-4" (protected by a engine cage still) to still be able to use the clutch fan. Single 57-60mm turbo (very small) for about 300hp. I figure this will be enough to throw paddles on it when i go to the dunes. What you guys think??

after removing the lowering blocks, shocks; and rims/tires yesterday I needed u-bolts. So today i went to the junk yard and picked some up and got my rear end finished. Shackles are on, t100 shocks fit up great. Lets just say... It looks like an old school hot rod. I gained probably close to 5" of lift and haven't taken any pictures yet. Will do tomorrow when I start on the front end. Tires should be shipping this week as i am "third" on the backorder list for casings with treadwright.

U-bolts are cheap bud...one of the few parts I don't like to re-use. Congrats on the progress tho.

Alright. Here are some pictures of some progress. I did the rear end the other day with my bro; tires are going to ship this week; I'm third on the wait list i guess with tread wright.

removed old rear shocks, 3" lowering kit, and stock shackles..

I also have the 4wd fenders and corner lights on.. Kinda looks like an old hot rod now!!

Aha.. Yeah; looks horrible huh? But it did lift it quite a bit! had about 500 lbs jumping on my rear bumper and it doesn't touch the bump stops. That's already a PLUS! in my book. Here's a box of parts I have for my front end.

Pretty much consists of (what i think are old camburg UCA's), downey torsions, new lower balljoints, tie rod ends, sway bar end bushings, total chaos uca bushings and inner sleeves, and kyb gas-adjust shocks, and low profile bump stops.

Oh; and here is a underside pic of my rear end.

getting to work!!! With beer, tools, and ice tea.

We got the upper control arms off after a lil hassle...

Couldn't get the cross shafts out so we took a band saw and just cut the upper control arms in half.. Wa-lah! Also got the torsions removed, having troubles with the tie rod ends even with a pickle fork. So.. more to come tomorrow.

Little more progress today; we didn't have much time because it started raining really hard.

poly bushings installed in new upper control arms, got those installed, steering shaft back in, new shocks in, upper ball joints bolted all tight; sway bar mounts installed, downey torsions installed and tightened a little. All that is left (tomorrow) is to install the lower balljoints; and tie rod ends.

Oh btw! My tires shipped out today from treadwright! I will have them this saturday! Wooo! Shipping weight came out to 45lbs per tire. $397 shipped.

my tires arrived today; i had them mounted and put on the truck. Okay...

Tires look great; they gave me BFG all-terrain casings and the tires balanced out 2oz/3oz/3.5oz/4oz which seems pretty okay. Now; as far as rubbing goes... I had to take off the lower valance as it wouldn't even allow me to move my steering wheel. The friendly tire techs at the tire factory kindly enough used their air cutting wheel to trim the valance enough for me to drive home. Next; the firewall.. Yeah; it rubs bad. Driving home i had to take all the corners VERY wide; which wasn't as annoying as it would seem. Its POURING rain here; so I have a tarp going from my roof over my entire car and having my old tires holding it in the back, with a broom on my cowl to hold the thing at an angle. I pulled the tires and took off the valance completely; hammered the entire fender so the edge is flat; and then i pounded the living ˟˟˟˟ out of the firewall; literally.. So for a test drive.. I can turn right to a complete lock without rubbing; but turning left I still rub right before lock.. Rear tires don't seem to be rubbing at all but I will make sure tomorrow and get some weight (600-700lbs or so) and see if the rear will rub. Over the large school speed bumps the truck will not rub at all at 10mph; but around 15 the left front will touch the firewall.

I believe i will have a lot more banging left; but in the end I will have to buy a body lift. I just don't know if I Only need a 2".. or will a 3" help me out that much more when actually going offroad. Here's a cell phone pic I took when I first got home; you can see the valance is cut a little. I think a 2-3" body lift will make the truck look real good with these tires until i go with a total chaos setup in a year or two and then remove it. Btw; tires measured out from side to side at 31" exactly.

dont body lift it, cut your fenders. I fit 35s on my 4x4 with out a lift, thats gotta be like 31s for the 2wd group right? I took off about 3" front and back. Then just bend the end over with some pliers. Or, get some black door trim from auto zone and cover it. Looks mint.

Damn thats more stuffed than my 4runner with 33s.
Those rears look like they will rub. So either get cutting or buy that body lift.
But overall it looks good Just need to rattle can it

Rears actually don't rub even with 400lbs in the rear. the fronts rub; and no fender cutting will solve it; it doesn't hit the fenders.. it hits the firewall.

looks good!
if the rear rubs, a quick easy way to gain room in the rear is if you take out the plastic liners and look up in the wheel well, you will see two L brackets. loosen the bolts on the fender side and take the bolts on the bottom of the wheel tub out. have some one pull on the bed side and then move the bolt to the outer hole and that will push the bed side out like 3/4''. that little bit was enough for mine not to rub before i put on my fiberglass bedsides.
easy way to check the front, with the the truck on jack stands pull the torsions bars out and then jack up the wheel. it will tell you where everything will hit under compression and where you need to make room. it will also tell you if you need a 2 or 3inch body lift.

the problem is that its not the fenders that the tires rub on, its the inner wheel well and fire wall they hit on 2wds.

You know anyone that welds? If you dont want to hammer on it, cut out the section where it rubs and weld in some flat sheetmetal.

I weld.. but with the massive amounts of rain we've been having lately in Washington.. It just seems like it would really suck to cut the firewall right now. I could definitely do it and might later on; but any ways.. I talked with roger and he said he would be weeks out on the body lift; and with college starting Monday i just don't have the time; so i went ahead and bought the PA 3" lift from JC Whitney for like 135. Hammering on it is too late; i pounded that sucker. Any ways; i know everyone is against the body lift; but its just until i can afford a tc uniball setup.

Btw robert; i appreciate that you like it! I do need to paint it; my neighbor does body work and all but I just don't really care about the dents.. the truck has millions. Though i do want it all one color; so he is thinking about doing some sort of enamel black or green that is really durable. if not just primer the whole thing black or green.

btw; i've rolled my rear fenders with a hammer.. I dont have fender linings any more but I know what your talking about with the l brackets.. I will have to look under it once its sunny out.

Alignment is tomorrow.. I need it BADLY! Positive camber on the passenger side is twice as bad as driver side in the picture.

A coat of paint will change the whole look of that truck. What color are you thinking? And I know you havent had them long but how do you like those treadwrights...ive been looking into those. What tread pattern did you get?

hey man nothing wrong with a body lift that is done right. when you install yours make sure you raise the bumpers and paint your frame so it looks less obvious. lol the truck is looking good

the treadwrights seem good so far.. i dont hear any road noise but they do seem a little squishy when i am braking.

as far as paint.. I am thinking a few different things.. it will either be rattle canned or spray gun; but with rostoleum enamel paint. either dark hunter green, or flat black.
