Its okay.. I canceled the body lift order.. I am still ordering +2" shackles, but lets hope those don't take 5 weeks!

I'm not going to do the body lift.. Instead I went over to keystone automotive and picked up some 4wd corner lights and 4wd fenders. Ontop of that I ordered my control arm bushings from total chaos, and those should be shipped out today. I received my upper control arms, but I am still waiting for the torsion bars to get here. Can't wait to turn this into a build thread!!! I grabbed two sets of low profile bump stops, and I have new tie rod ends, lower ball joints, upper ball joints, and sway bar end link bushings aswell. I was able to return the energy suspension 4wd control arm bushings with no problem!

 

hate to say it but to fit 31s your going to need the body lift. the problem isnt the fenders them selfs its the inner fender/firewall where the tires hit on turns and on big bumps. try looking up the body lifts on ebay. there are usually lots of them for sale there.

 

So how come a stock 4x4 can fit 31s and a 4x2 can't? Do the 4x4's sit higher or something?

Robert; i'd rather cut my firewall back 2-3" and weld in a flat peice of sheet metal than wait 5 weeks for a body lift. I also do not plan to run inner fender linings.

We'll see though. My bro has an 87 yota with 2-3" body lift that he's gonna be taking off his truck soon. might snag it or something. But nothin a BFH (big effin hammer) wont fix

well if your going to cut, weld, and pound the metal back, the ecu is on the passenger side right where you will be doing all of this so watch out.

a stock 4wd sits about 3" higher stock that the 2wd. Let alone it has rear spring over and 2wd has spring under the rear axle, and the front end is different aswell..

and Yes i know about the fuses on the driver side and the ecu on the passenger side. No problem. I'll make it work.

Btw; has anyone done 4" spindles with the upper control arms and aftermarket torsions? Would that + a spring over in the rear potentially fit 35's? My bro was pondering.

Robert m, what kind of body lift do you have on your truck? Or does the higher stance from the LT kit you have on there take care of the rubbing? You have me worried now man.

 

Long Travel kits normally extend the wheel base in front giving you more room away from inner fenders etc. LT kits also offer a little bit of lift in there too. That is why you can see the 2wd guys with LT kits running 31" tires with very very minor fender modification.

I've been doing extensive thinking in my head and i just don't have the money at the moment after dropping a grand the last few days. I installed the 4wd fenders tonight. they fit okay. I need to take one fender off and re-align it because the corner light isn't sitting correctly, and on the driver side they actually gave me a 2wd light and not 4wd.. But yeah.

So for anyone wondering!...7m4x4dude is my brother who has an 87' 4x4 yota with 7MGE swap; I have a 94' 2wd pickup . We think quite a bit differently! LOL

 

That's what I thought, and it's why I'm going to put LT on my 2wd. I just wanted to make sure because Robert m's comment about needing a BL for 31s was confusing since his sig lists no BL and I'd been operating under the assumption that LT was all that was necessary.

 

no BL for me anymore. i used to have a 4crawler 2'' but took it off when i put my first LT kit on cause it wasnt needed anymore. funny thing is though if you look on the total chaos site, it says that the older 84-88 pickups have to run a body lift to fit 31s even with there uniball LT kit.

send your stuff back and buy this for cheaper and get the BL with the saved cash.

 

It sounds like it might be worth it to me to email Total Chaos and ask them why the BL is required with LT, hoping it's not because of rubbing on the firewall. I'm going with the Batch Racing LT kit when I've got more of the other work my truck needs done on it actually completed.

lol just givin you a hard time. yea 4wds in yotas set quite a bit higher then 2wds. most 2wd trucks sit lower then 4wds. its more then 3in tho. look at deathyotas 2wd, it has a 3in BL and still looks like it sets lowere then a 4wd. but i could be wrong.

Dont do it. Search around, he has a REALLY bad reputation for scamming people, being difficult to contact, and his kits are weak and break. Very few people had anything nice to say about him.

 

Wow, really? When I talked to Nate several months ago he didn't sound like the scammy/avoidy type, even guaranteed that with it 31s would fit; though you are right, search says otherwise. Does this mean I'm saving up for a TC uniball LT kit now?
