I have a 93 toyota..but its 2wd. i plan on eventually having 35's with 20 inch rims. but dont know how to lift it being that its 2wd. any tips would be appreciated.. thanks

 

its actually easier to lift a 2wd than a 4wd because you dont have to worry about CVs or a front driveshaft. the best way to lift the rear would be to get higher arch leaf springs along with some longer shackles. if you want to go cheap, get some longer shackles and some lift blocks, but being cheap has its downsides. up front you could do a skyjacker (or similar) bracket lift, longer coils, or spacers (priced in that order) but again, being cheap has its downsides.

 

Check out downey off road, jd fabrication, and total chaos. I think if you are going to lift a 2wd you better be doing some high speed offroading.

Rear suspension:

Spring over axle conversion, thats should get you close to a stock 4x4
Then Lift springs+longer shackles

for the front.... well Im really not sure you can get that much stuff to lift your front end that high.

You will almost defently need a body lift to clear 35"s

im not plannin on doin much offroading..just for a daily driver im still in school and tryna get the cleanest truck award for my senior year lol

 

Well okay then, heres what I would do: (depends if you can do any welding and such)

first 3" body lift
Spring over axle in the rear then some longer shackles
Front, 1.5" bj spacer, try to find some upper controll arms (not made anymore) they offer some lift, then crank the torsion bars.

There are not many options for big lift on a 2wd, so your best bet might be to sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd, you can easliy stuff 35's under it with around 5-6" of lift.

 

i have struts in the front..soo is there a way i can just get longer shocks? in the back im thinkin of doing the springs over then adding longer shackles..but the front is what im havin trouble with...??

 

The 2wd front end is weird. It's not ment to flex as much as the 4wd.

There was someone on YT that had a lot of front end stuff on his 2wd. It looked pretty clean.

If it is indeed a '93 pickup, you have torsion bars for suspension and then just plain shocks up front. The coil sping and shock front suspension did not start until the '95.5 Tacoma pickups.

Ball joint spacers would be good for some lift pu front:

Fabtech makes a 3rd gen 2wd lift. 3", i think.

not likley, unless you want to do some fender trimming.

33"s would probibly fit with the fabtec lift, rear lift mods and a body lift.

 

ok well what size rim do you think would look good witht that..18 or 20? beacause im shootin for looks.. and about how high do you think it would sit with 33's? like what would be the measurement from the bottom of the front valance to the ground?

 

Measure it how it is now, add around 6" for lift then 33 - (your current tire size) then divide it by two and add that number to it.

You might sit close to a mildly lifted 4wd truck.

 

Okay, I absolutely love Prerunners!

First off, you're probably going to want to stick to around 31" tires. I've seen a lot of Prerunners run smaller (31"s and 33"s).

For the front, get some balljoint spacers and maybe a thicker torsion bar.

Also, rather than try to lift it way up to fit the tires, get some fiberglass fenders!

The flare from the fender will allow you to run the larger tire without such an extremely huge lift. (And without body lifting it!) With a larger flare, some wheel spacers, aftermarket wheels, and a semi-skinny (9.50" - 11.00") tire, you can probably run anywhere from a 31" to a 33". Of course getting skinnier the taller you go. I'd probably stick to a 15" rim, not going much larger than a 17" just because I think big rims look tacky. Maybe some black steelies, as they are extra cheap! White steelies would be kind of unique as well.

WabFab makes a lot of good stuff, so I just used their website for product illustrations, but you can find these from a lot of other suppliers as well.

For the rear you can add a longer shackle. If it were me, I'd lift the rear a little bit and the front a little more, I kind of like the prerunner rake.

If you're going for show, you'll probably want to paint the fenders, since they'll be white when you get them. Is your truck white? Maybe you could just paint the truck white, that'd be cool.

Anyways, after all that, you'd have a pretty functional, pretty mean looking truck. Depending on how much attention you pay to detail, then you could win cleanest truck. It's the attention to little things! A 12" lift, 56" tires, and all the chrome in the world can't make up for shoddy work and lack of thought. Think through everything beforehand!

If you got some thicker torsion bars and beefed the front ball joints up a bit (like heavy duty tie-rod ends, idler arm, stuff like that) then you'd probably be able to reliably jump the vehicle (nothing too high, but catching a little) pretty regularly without worry.

no way your going to get enough lift to fit 35s on a 2wd. you can do 33s with a total chaos long travel kit for like 4+ grand. also with a set of fabtech/downey arms new torsion bars and a body lift you might clear 33s but it will probably rub.

I had 33x10.50 on my truck with just a fabtech upper arm and sway away torsions. I did have fiberglass fenders though. If you were to add a ball joint spacer and a body lift, I think you could clear 35's without any problem. If you want to get even crazier, fabtech made a 4 inch lift spindle for a short time. They are no longer made but you could probably track some down.

 

Hey you could just buy this pre-runner they guy lives like 4 miles from me. http://houston.craigslist.org/car/401039408.html He did all of this lift and its a 2wheel drive and he wont go neer as far as me in the mud. I'm a senior in high school and I wish we had a car comp like you.

 

you should look into the total chaos suspension and for the rear i'd get a 4wd axle because the perches are already on top and you wouldn't have to regear for the 35's. plus yer getting a stronger diff.

i'm sure you could do 35's with the lift and a 1-2" body lift.
