2wd engine harness same as 4wd engine harness?
Hi guys, I'm trying to get an engine harness for my 90 pickup. I've found a few, but i'm not sure if they work correctly. First of all, my truck is a 22re 4wd 5speed truck. I've found 2 different people selling harnesses, both are a bit different from mine. One has the exact same ECU numbers but came off a 2wd. The other has different numbers, but came from the same year and is listed to come from a 4spd manual. I just need to know if these would plug in ok and work correctly, and if so, which would be better? Thanks in advance!

Definitely get one with the same ECU numbers. Some ECUs have different plugs and sensors. I am not certain that a 2wd wiring harness will work in a 4wd truck, but I would assume that it would be the same. The length could be slightly different, so you might want to measure it and compare it to your current one before you buy it.

in all honesty id go with the 4x4 harness of the same year, since theres a 99.7% chance everythings the same. also that way you'd know it would match up. where are you lookin for your harness anyway? i need to replace mine but cant find one. enlighten me and everyone of the harness needed population out there...

Does anyone know if the 89-90 have a resistor box for the injectors? I don't know if it originally had one, but mine does. And what year did they start having diagnostic boxes?

My 94 wire harness is in one piece and not only runs around the engine compartment, but also has a branch that runs to the rear of the manual transmission, where it connects to the wiring to the tail lights, etc. The 4wd harness would have a connector on the rear of the transfer case for the 4wd indicator light.
