sexiest thread every if you ask me! from what i know, they are only rare here in the States... theres a ton in canada, and were imported from 1990-92 and VERY few in 93. besides mine i know of one other about 15 miles away from me and ive seen maybe one or two in the past two years since ive owned mine. ive never noticed how many doors each 4runner had but now since i bought mine when i see a runner i NEED to see how many doors it has hahha

heres mine... 1990 3.0, 5 speed... all stock except minor stuff like subs, amps, k&n FIPK, cb radio stuff like that and plans are to keep it stock and running forever, has 243k on the clock

It IS cool to pop off the sides (no pun intended) plus it gets rid of the buffeting when you roll down the windows. Too bad they aren't electrically actuated like on Navigators and such...

So not to get too far off topic here but.....

On the 2 door 4runners. What size are our rear speakers and are the "boxes" that they mount to the same as the 4door rear speakers?

And by same I mean can I take ones out of a 4door and put them in a two door w/o modification?

Thanks guys!

If I were to get a runner it would be a 2-door, I had a 97 2-door cherokee XJ and I just prefer the look of them over the 4 door ones. Plus I liked the 2-door XJ because they had longer doors and easy to get in being 6'2", now are the toy 2-door 4runner have the same size/same door as the truck and 4-door 4runner or are they longer like the XJ's?

Ps. I thought that 2-door SUV's were stonger than 4-door SUV's, but was told on jeep forums that 2-door XJ's that they are weaker against twisting, but then again Jeeps are unibodies and Toy 4Runners have a frame in the years the 2-doors were available. I would not hesitate getting a 2-door 4Runner and put a 3.4L in it also with a 5 speed, it would be killer!!!!

They should be the same. The speakers are 5.5 or 5.75" I forgot but I enlarged the opening with a dremel to fit a 6.5" on mine

The 2-door doors are off a pick up IIRC, they are slightly longer than the 4 door 4runner doors.

anybody have to replace thoes rear speaker boxes for any reasons?

I just havent attempted pulling the panels off to look for myself for fear of breaking a clip

These panels are a tad rare to find replacements for after all =)

no mention of 2 door models in the '92 brochure. i wonder what the story is behind yours. does your emissions sticker indicate what country your truck was made for? you may have some really rare item there!
Mine is a 1990, and was originally fitted with the 22R-E and an A/T.

Best mod yet! The truck feels so much lighter, and actually gets about 22 mpg on the highway. I can't get enough of the sound and power.
