I was hoping that you guys could walk me through the troubleshooting process for the power side mirrors on the 2nd gen. They have both stopped working, and worked perfectly until now (no symptoms until suddenly both stopped working at the same time).
The fuse checks out ok (7.5amp fuse, when I pull it, the radio also stops working).
From other posts it seems like owners have taken the doors apart to look for wiring issues etc. Before taking the whole door apart I would like to check the most common culprits if possible...thanks so much for your help! I know power mirrors are not an essential function...but I like to keep things running stock as much as possible.
(previous doesn't include ABS system...was happy to rip that out!!)

 

If it was just one mirror I would suspect an issue with that motor or the wiring to it. Since both of your mirror motors quit working at the same time, I would start with the switch.

 

I agree to start with the switch, but also try opening the driver's door and squeezing the rubber tubing that goes from the door to the body. Lots of wires going through there, including some wires for the power mirrors. Squeeze, wiggle, shake, and see if during any of that the mirrors work.

First thing I ever did to my 4runner was repair a few wires in that section to get my passenger power mirror to work consistently.
