2nd Gen - 33's or 35's on my new 17x9's?

I'm getting some new wheels in the next couple of weeks for the 4runner as I'm going to be using the 4runners 15x10 Classic II's on my zook with the 37s Iroks. I was going to just stick the 15x8 Classic II's I originally bought for the zook onto the 4runner, but I've been keen on getting 17's or 18's for a while so I had a quick chat to a mate who I get my tyres through. Turns out he had some 17x9's in stock for the right price, which I'm going to get, but I now need new tyres to suit.

These are the rims. http://www.conceptbrute.com/index_content.html

I'm most likely going to get Mickey Thomson MTZ's (or maybe Cooper STT's) but not sure wether to go for 33's or 35's. I'm still running stock gearing, which is fine with 33's, but I will deffintly have to re-gear if I go 35's as I need to tow my zook to events, which adds about another $500-$800 to the cost of going 35's. The 35's are also roughly $50 a tyre dearer ($200 all up).

So just after what you guys think? Money isn't a big issue, but 33's are kinda the sensible way to go (and legal), but 35's will look ˟˟˟˟˟ hot!!

Also if anybody has any pics of Toys with 17's and 33s or 35s can you post them up, I've searched all the net, and only came up with these two.

If you are only using them for street the 33's will be fine, but offroad there isn't enough sidewall on a 33 with a 17" rim, for me at least...

35's look better, and another observation, that's normally the size most Baja runners use, isn't it? that combo at least seems pretty popular, from what i've seen

Check out HOJU's truck. IIRC, he has 35's w/ 17" Tundra wheels. It looks really good.

Or Lance's (Good Times) on a 4th gen has 35's w/ 17" stock but beadlocked wheels. It's probably the best lookin' 4th gen on here.

I personally don't know how the cops are up your way, but even when I was running 7" Lift and 35s on my old truck they didn't bother me much. I did keep my truck clean and wasn't driving crazy around town w/ some loud exhaust. I think that you are the same way because you keep your 4runner looking great.

I would definately say 35s. They will compliment your lift very nicely and still keep the illegalness at bay because, like others have said, the lack of the sidewall will make them appear to be smaller.

GO 35s !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the replys so far

The 7" lift was only for the Offroad Expo and Show n Shine last weekend, I am dropping the bodylift back to 2" this weekend, and the 37's will be going on my zook. So the 4runner will have around 6" lift.

I will put the 37's and 3" bodylift back in from time to time, but it is way to big to run around here as a daily driver. The cops would get me by the time I left my street

I'll check out those other trucks mentioned with 17's and 35's, I'm pretty sold on how good they will look, but is there any with 33's on 17's? or is it really just a ˟˟˟˟˟ combo? and doesn't look right, thats why there isn't many trucks running it?

Well I gave in.....315/70/R17 (35x12.5) Mickey Thomson MTZ's are on there way I've wanted to run 35's as daily drivers for ages, and the profile of a 33 on a 17" rims just doesn't look right....they look like 31's, so 35's it is....should look sweet!!

just don't tell the missus, seems as though she was ok with 35s when I asked at the beginning of the week, but said no to them this morning.....but oh well....as I've read somewhere, its easier to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission

I guess women are the same around the globe

Should look great, I like the look of 35's. In fact its almost time to pull the winter 33's off and strap on the 35's, YAY YAY

A better picture of the new rims....not as much dish or offset to them as the 15x10s, but still BLING! (they are 37" Iroks)
