22RET to 22R swap in 87 4-Runner

Hi all, been lurking for a while, finally have a question;

My wifes little 89 pickup has been beaten to death, trees dropped on it, it's been rolled, rear ended, the interior is shot and the front suspension is pretty much toast. The 22R came from an 86 truck with 350K on the clock that rusted apart, it had another 100K added in another truck before it was totalled and has had 150k put on it in this one. Yes, that's 600K plus and the speedo hasn't worked in a few years. All that's been done is a cam swap, Crower Stage 1 EFI, a Weber 32/36 conversion, 5 timing chains and three transmissions. It still runs perfectly, passes leakdown and compression is good with 40PSI oil pressure @ 3200RPM running 5-30 Mobil 1.

So, I'm looking for it's 4th body. I found an 87 SR5 4-Runner in great shape, blown up 22RET/Auto. I want to put the old 22R into it. I'm not expecting or wanting mounds of power, it's just her DD/Mall crawler anyway. A back seat for the kids will be nice

How much hassle is it going to be to take the carb engine and swap it into an EFI truck? I'll be sticking with the carb for now as the intake is gone on the 22RTE and parts for these are a little hard to find around here. Will the digital dash on the SR5 work with a carbed engine? I'm figuring I'll have to swap tanks and fuel lines at the very least.

If the running gear is shot, I may try just dropping the 4 runner body onto her truck's 2WD frame. I'm assuming the mounts are in more or less the same place.

It shouldn't be that hard to do.

From my understanding. The tanks bolt right in. Now for a wiring harness tho, that might be the tought part

Where are u located? I might be interested in buying some of the turbo parts from you. If you would be willing to part with tbhem.

I'm in Evansville IN. It is my understanding that the intake and turbo are gone but I'll see when it's delivered Sunday.

Pictures would be great.

What I'm really interested in is the exhaust manifold. If it is Not cracked.

Hell I may purxhase what's left of the engine.

Well since the carbed pickup won't have half the electrical stuff that the turbo runner has, i'd just say to swap the entire harness from the cab forward, over to the new runner.

Not sure on the gauge cluster.

Got the truck last weekend, the turbo engine is gone and there's a locked up 22R in the bay. I've been sick this week so haven't had any time to mess with it. Overall it's in great shape with only a couple of minor dings and a dime sized rust spot on the driver's side fender.

A friend of mine has an RE engine in his garage that supposedly smoked but ran, think I'll get it from him and throw it in to at least find out if everything else works.
