22RE for towing
I did a little hauling with my truck yesterday. I know I was past the limit I probably should have been lugging around but the yota did just fine. Here's what I did:
I don't know if I could have done this with an auto, as it was I was dropping the clutch around 2k minimum and feathering it in for a sloooow start. I have a feeling this would have been way easier with stock tires, these 31s look cool but I'm going to stock before long.
So who has hauled bigger stuff? I know a lot of you are hauling heavier stuff around than this all the time, but I sure don't want to do this more than I need to!

My '86 22re auto towed a dead 4000lb Explorer halfway across town. It wasn't happy with me, and I turned on ECT, turned off OD, and got rolling from lights in 2-lo, but it did it.
Love these trucks.

It's not the towing overloaded that's the problem guys, it's the STOPPING part that will get you in trouble. You have an accident overloaded like that and they'll own you.

Yeah, I made good use of engine braking for sure! I just kept the rpms high and the speed low.

Hualed a little over a thousand pounds of scrap in my bed last weekend. Who knew those 63's back there would serve a purpose. Going about 45mph and one veer of the steering wheel would make the truck dip from side to side uncontrolably. Pretty cool. Pretty scary at the same time...

Mine wasn't dipping but I think that had more to do with me simply pulling weight, my bed didn't have any weight in it.
4000 lbs is more than I would want! This El Camino clocks in around 3,300 lbs and I was feeling maxed out. I'm sure I wasn't but it felt that way. Engine temp and oil pressure held rock solid through 45 minutes of moderate traffic (mostly behind me!! ), I was quite pleased.
