22re timing adjustment
Hi there been reading this forums for years and getting answers without actually asking it.
But I've been looking for the answer to this but perhaps there is translation lost and can not understand what is being said. I need to adjust my timing, and my queries are as follows.
I have to short out the e1-t1 fuses BEFORE I start to work on the timing?
Can I adjust my timing by pulling out the distributor and rotating it until it matches up?
Is the mark supposed to line up at 5 degrees mark when the timing is correct?
Thanks, Eric.
I have a 22re in a 91 pickup.

Here's how I do it.
1. Warm up vehicle
2. Shut off
3. Set up all my stuff
(Tach, vac gauge, timing light, loosen distributor hold down bolt)
4. Start vehicle
5. Install jumper between E1-TE1
(Mine is 89 model, may vary for others)
6. Observe idle drop, rotate distributor until steady on 5* before TDC.
7. Adjust idle (recheck timing if needed, and observe vacuum gauge entire time)
And that's about it. Answer your question?
