It can be done I don`t know why you would .If things are working
Not as simple as just bolting on the intake
Start at the fuel pump and fuel filter you need the higher pressure for the EFI
You can go with a external mounted pump so you don`t need to mess with dropping the tank.
You then need the EFI ECU and assorted sensors that talk with the ECU.
It has been so long I can`t recall if the 22R harness is the same and one just needs to plug in the EFI Relay The Circuit opening relay but I sort of doubt. So you would also need the engine harness with the ECU
There are always other little things like the fuel pump block off plate
The flexible fuel lines going to the fuel rail The injectors
throttle cable ?? I don`t know if they are different.
Air Intake system from air cleaner housing to the throttle body.
Using used parts just what will need replaced.
Your best bet is to have a complete running donor vehicle .
That way you know it was working before you started
Do you have more specific questions ??

So my situation is this, I have carb truck so not worried about the accessories, there all there of course, and I have a efi motor in my garage that was givin to me. I'm going to rebuild it for grins and gigs, was gonna sell it to buy a new motor for my carb truck but then thought, can I just put my intake(carb) and exhaust on the efi block and run it? Is it that simple or do i need to swap cams? I know at least the Mech. Fuel pump cam gets swapped, but other then that it should be good to go right? Or should I, can I swap heads?

You guys are missing the point. Every time somebody talks about dumping an EFI setup everybody looses their mind. He was asking for any advise to help along the way and all that was given was EFI RULES.

I am curious about this too, I have an 86 22r and was wondering if I can just swap the intake on a 87 efi block? Do you know of any threads that talk about doing it? So far all I find is people talking about it in theory but no one that knows for sure, anyways let me know if ya would, thanks.
The motors are all the same but you have to make changes to make one work from one form to another. It is more involved then just changing intakes and fuel pumps.

Cool thanks, yeah I guess my basic question was are the heads and blocks the same. Valve clearance, cam pitch, etc. Looks like they are, thanks your thread will come in very handy when I go to do this.
