22re sensor question

I've got an 87 4Runner with 22re. My question is, does anyone know what the sensor is that is located on the lower intake right in the middle? It's located right above where the coolant line attaches to the bottom side of the intake.

sounds like the temp sender for the gauge

just a single wire with a female flat connector on it?

Yes, one single wire with female spade connector. So that's the one for the gauge. The temp sensor by the tstat housing is just for ECU purposes?

So how many damn temp sensors does the 22re need? There's the gauge sending unit on the lower intake between #2 and #3, the temperature sending unit and the cold start thermo switch on the lower intake right below the thermostat, and on located in the thermostat housing. What is that sensor for? Is this sensor for the ECU?

The above post must have auto posted while I was Googleing for my answer. Found it to be the radiator fan switch. I find this interesting since I have the good old fashion belt driven clutch fan.
